Andrew Lazonby
Hostess Entertainment Unlimited
Founder
Andrew "Plug" Lazonby graduated a double prize winning Percussionist from The Royal College of Music in London in 1994, embarking on a career in orchestral music performing, recording and touring regularly with the BBC Orchestras, Philharmonia, London Philharmonic and Glyndebourne Opera. Interests in contemporary electronic and rock music diverted his interests towards the more popular sphere, becoming embroiled in pirate FM (tower block) broadcasting and around `96 the early incarnations of 7 days a week net broadcasting. Following his relocation to Japan in the late 1990s and noting the lack of alternative dynamic options available for artists and labels to penetrate the Japanese market, Hostess Entertainment was founded in 2000. Hostess provides uniquely localised management, promotion, sales and marketing services across physical and digital formats for select international artists and labels seeking to establish themselves in the Japanese market. Long term and successful label partners include Domino Recording Co Ltd, V2/Cooperative Music and The PIAS Entertainment Group, with releases by artists such as Mogwai, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Soulwax/2ManyDJs, Nine Inch Nails and Enter Shikari. Hostess commands the largest market share of intl music sales beneath the Majors in Japan.
