Ang Kwee Tiang
CISAC
Regional Director
Mr Ang is the Regional Director & Regional Counsel of CISAC for the Asia-Pacific region. He also supervises the work of BIEM for the region.
As CISAC’s representative since 1989, Mr Ang has been directly involved in the creation of copyright organisations in many Asia Pacific countries. In this connection, he served as Advisor to and/or Director of COMPASS (Singapore) from 1989 till 1997; MACP (Malaysia) from 1989 to 1996; is currently an Advisor to KCI (Indonesia), FILSCAP (Philippines); serves as a member of the Complaints Committee of MUST (Chinese Taipei) since 1999; and is a Director of the MCT-Phonorights Joint Venture in Thailand as well as an independent director of CLASS Ltd.
Mr. Ang has undertaken numerous expert missions on behalf of WIPO to Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Bhutan, Papua New Guinea, the Forum Island Countries (of the Pacific) and Mongolia on issues relating to copyright and collective management. He has also been invited to deliver numerous lectures at the International Copyright Institute of the US Copyright Office.
Mr Ang holds a law degree from the National University of Singapore, a Master of Laws from the University of London where he specialised in commercial and intellectual property laws, and a post-graduate diploma in UK, USA and EU Copyright Laws, also from the University of London.
